new barnet

sudden midnight (well 3am) urge to get the old barnet chopped off and managed to find a great hairdresser down at my mum's over the weekend. after some resistance i managed to persuade her that my idea of short back and long front WOULD work...and she did a great job. only problem now is my neck is cold....time to get knitting that comfy scarf...

before.....
after.....

quite (again)...

i need this tea towel in my life....

rude nude

forgot to mention i bought this fab digital print by Edd Pearman at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition...took it to the local framers near work in Harrow and worried i was going to offend the elderly muslim proprieter...but he rose above it and said "well, its art isn't it"...quite...!

Feast of Strangers

straight from the Craftacular across town to the Feast of Strangers, thanks again to Rambling Restaurant crew (and Limina), at the Treehouses in Regents Park.

brought a few cupcakes from the Bust do...best i've EVER tasted...and met a lovely stranger while we chatted about topics from the conversation menu.

all inspired by philospher Theodore Zeldin who celebrates his birthday every year by holding a party with strangers - he was there...and so were lots of strangers...(for his birthday on Sunday 21st August)

carry on camping

have just come back from a week's fantastic camping in Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.

what a beautiful place - we were so lucky to enjoy scorching sunshine, amazing views, delish grub (scampi and fresh oysters), a bit of fossicking, a perfectly timed meteor shower, a ufo (no joke), a trip to the Whitby Museum (complete with withered hand of a hanged man) and a night staying in the wonderful La Rosa Hotel...topped off with a night flapping about the graveyard in my velvet cape and fangs Dracula-stylie!

a little bit dotty

went to the "Walking in my mind" exhibition at the Hayward Gallery...getting inside the, quite frankly twisted, filthy and fun, heads of ten international artists.

loved the majority of it (tho not all) especially the work of japanese artists Yoshitomo Nara - who's little artist shed/studio was filled with toys and it was remarked looked just like my house...but the best by far was Yayoi Kusama's dot-filled room...which extended outdoors to the terrace...fantastic.

feed your head

also attended the brilliant Mad Hatter's Rambling Tea Party at Lunch as guests of the fab Rambling Restaurant crew and ended up taking part in the Fifth Plinth's 24 hours 24 shows at The Oubliette Arthouse.

a great excuse to dress up in silly costumes, scoff cakes, drink tea and wave at the bemused tourists through the glass of a squatted shopfront on oxford street....and met some lovely people!

in the words of the great Jefferson Airplane....

"When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said;
"Feed your head, feed your head, feed your head"
