pootling round Greenwich we happened upon a great little (how sick of this expression are we now) "pop-up" gallery showSee Through Rose Tinted with some fabulous and freaky pieces...all crammed in and overflowing...made me feel right at home.  chatted to one of the contributing artists, Ben Oakley, a very nice man...who also gave me a piece of his work (thanks very much). look forward to future events...a south london art fair...coming May 2010.

Secret [Cinema] Splurge...

finally managed to get to a Secret Cinema event...after several weeks of clues (you get a post code and a dress code only) we spent the night in Limehouse at the fabulous art deco gem that is Troxy on Commercial Road, in the company of gangsters, molls and variously assorted 20s types for the viewing of Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone.  tho its not a fave flick , the whole spectacle of the night was well worth the (pretty extortionate) price.  a good time was had by all and i'll def be making an effort to attend future events.

a christmas story....a tasty taster....

tip top christmas movies...

am off to the Secret Cinema christmas screening this weekend - no idea what it is yet but the clues seem to hint towards a flapper era mob-related flick and guesses range from Millers Crossing to Bugsy Malone (here's hoping as at least it involves SPLURGE GUNS)...don't sound very christmassy to me??

it got me thinking about my preferred choice of PROPER christmas movies...as follows....

A Christmas Story (1983 Dir: Bob Clark) - by far the best christmas movie ever...tho sadly i've never seen it shown in the UK...the tale of Ralphie's struggle to get his dream christmas prezzie: the Red Rider BB gun  - as he comes up against resistance from his mom, teacher and even Santa himself as they protest "you'll shoot you're eye out"...does he get what he wants...i won't spoil it...but suffice to say Ralphie in his aunty's gift of a bunny suit on christmas morning is absolutely priceless...

and this month A Christmas Story celebrates its 25 year anniversary with a CONVENTION on the 28th + 29th November in Cleveland...with many of the original cast attending...you can even visit the original house where the movie was shot, which is now a museum....awww shucks wish i could go!!...(I actually spotted Ralphie on the tellybox as i was surfing last night in the terrible Jennifer Anniston/Vince Vaughn movie The Break Up - he looked exactly the same...like a grown man with a child's face...weird). ohmygod there's even a shop...you can BUY THE LEG LAMP!!!

http://www.redriderleglamps.com/Store.cfm?category=13&position=1

Trading Places (1983  Dir: John Landis) - quality christmas movie...great cast, great script, great laughs and great moral tale...and Dan Ackroyd as rampaging drunken Santa is just bloody hilarious...not to mention GORILLA LOVE...great all year round....

A Nightmare Before Christmas (1993 Dir: Henry Sellick) - tho i shudder at the thought that Jack Skellington is BORED of Halloween (how? why? shurley shum mishtake)...this tale of his discovery of christmas is a corker...one i'll be watching this year for sure...

Special mention must go to Grinch, Elf ("Santa? I KNOW HIM!") and It's a Wonderful Life...oh alright AND Die Hard.

love it or hate it...stoopid question

went to check out the pop-up  Marmite shop on Regent Street today. it's full of lovely Marmite related goodies - flavoured snacks, crockery, stationery and artwork (i snagged a lovely canvas print - tho i really wanted the fab Marmite wallpaper) - it is a Marmite lover's heaven.

fingers crossed Santa/Satan brings me one of the lovely silver lids!

nothing really matters....love is all we need

sent via a friend on fbook...found again by another on fffound....excellent!

bite me

quite frankly my dear, if you look at me like that, i don't give a damn...

ok...not that hard....

but this Twilight thing...don't have enough biting for my liking and it'll just never beat the all time best vampire movie that is....Dracula AD 1972...(Hammer, natch, with the tagline "the Count is back with an eye for London's hotpants...and a taste for everything")...

with the incomparable Christopher Lee...and not forgetting the superb character that is Johnny Alucard...
