just back from a lovely little trip to East Sussex. spent the night in my friend's gorgeous double oast house, had a bracing early morning walk round Bodiam Castle - just 5 mins away from her front door and then decided that as the sun was out, for possibly the last day this summer, to take a trip down to Hastings for the rest of the day.
it was a little rammed with people because of the
Seafood & Wine Festival but the sun was blazing and the atmosphere was fun and i sampled some delicious fried sprats with thai dipping sauce and rock oysters..yuuummm!
i also managed to take in a little shopping - Old Town has some great little chi-chi places and old curiosity shop style junkyards...heaven. i stuck my toes in the sea and even had a little trip up to West Hill on the funicular...great!
then i was back home in time for, possibly the last outdoor film screening of summer, Raiders of the Lost Ark in Roundwood Park courtesy of the
Lexi cinema - we hunkered down with blankets, sandwiches and vino...and there were even some circus acts in the intermission courtesy of
zippos circus including some "hoop action" and a contortionist... tho we were slightly worried about the knife-thrower act!
