i love this illustration by Nate Duval

it reminds me of the best views of Brussells - to be found looking out of the windows of Tom + Bart's tip top of the world apartment

Nate Duval also does great band posters....including this one for the Brookly based indie rock band Vivian Girls....
the Vivian Girls are named after characters in reclusive writer/artist Henry Darger's fantasy writings and illustrations The Story of the Vivian Girls, in what is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion. Found after his death in an apartment in Chicago in 1973 - the writings were inspired by an unsolved child murder and his own unhappy childhood - and are full of descriptions of child brutality and mythical creatures. The posthumous discovery ensured his fame as leading outsider artist and in turn he has influenced many contemporary artists and musicians. An exhibtion of his work Up Close: Hentry Darger is currently on at the American Folk Art Museum in New York - which hopefully i'll have time to visit (between shopping trips) in April.
